Perfect open-air listening pleasure in the new Mercedes-Benz SLK

Tailor-made technical components and careful acoustic tuning by the Harman Kardon® audio specialists form the basis for the authentic, detailed listening pleasure afforded in the new Mercedes-Benz® SLK. The Harman Kardon acoustic specialists invested a lot of time in bringing a realistic music experience from stereo and 5.1¹ recordings to both seats, even with the hardtop stowed. In order to ensure a uniform sound experience, the amplifier receives a signal from the central electronics as soon as the roof is opened. Sound reproduction is automatically adjusted to the acoustic conditions of the open car.

High-tech components for excellent sound quality
The SLK features ten high-grade loudspeakers, delivering brilliant music quality. The
discrete Logic 7® technology guarantees three-dimensional surround sound for every
stereo and 5.1¹ multichannel recording, with the hardtop up or stowed. The powerful
500 Watt Harman Kardon DSP amplifier is equipped with a digital signal processor (DSP). The digital DTCP encryption technology enables audio information to be transmitted without degradation via MOST® technology.¹ This means that sound recordings in DVD-Audio¹, DVD-Video¹ or CD formats in the MLP¹, MLP 5.¹1, DTS® 5.1¹, Dolby® Digital 5.1¹ and PCM digital standards can be transmitted without loss in quality.

In addition, the new roadster offers Speed-Sensitive Volume Adjustment (SSVA). Every change in speed is forwarded to the sound system by means of a speedometer signal, so that the volume is automatically adjusted accordingly.
