Carefully coordinated components that have been designed right from the development stage for extreme loads far exceeding those to be expected during normal usage guarantee impressive performance at all times; materials and technology are relentlessly tested in demanding test series and rigorous test drives both on and off the road.

Discrete Logic 7 technology for sensational surround sound

The multichannel DSP main amplifier in the G-Class delivers a total output of 450 watt, thereby guaranteeing a superior and dynamic sound experience. The G-Class also uses 14 high-end sound transducers that are optimally integrated in the vehicle interior. The basis for the impressive surround sound experience is the pioneering Discrete Logic 7 technology that ensures faithful surround sound enjoyment of stereo and 5.1¹ recordings in every seat. If 5.1¹ surround recordings were to be played without Discrete Logic 7 technology, there would be only one “sweet spot” in the car: in the area of the center console, where no one sits. Thanks to Discrete Logic 7 technology, the surround information is optimally distributed via the off-roader’s speakers, producing a sound that remains faithful to the original, and a sweet spot for every passenger regardless of where he or she is sitting. A further technology ensures superior sound in the Harman Kardon surround sound systems: the modern digital DTCP¹ (Digital Transmission Content Protection) encryption technology means that high-resolution signals can be digitally transported and processed en route from the sound carrier to the amplifier. The result is loss-free transmission of modern multichannel formats. This means that high-resolution multichannel recordings in the formats DVD-Audio¹, DVD-Video¹ or DTS® CD can be transferred to the MLP, MLP 5.1¹, DTS 5.1¹, Dolby® Digital 5.1¹ and PCM digital standards without loss of quality.
